Good Afternoon,
I’ve been pondering a question that divides many Norfolk beach-lovers - which is more special, Wells or Holkham? These two fantastic stretches of sand sit side by side on the North Norfolk coast, yet each has its own distinct character that inspires fierce loyalty.
Wells beach,
with its colourful beach huts, easily accessible beach from the car park, pine woodland backdrop, and shallow but dangerous channels has a certain seaside charm that feels quintessentially British, particularly with the beach huts.
Just along the coast,
Holkham beach
presents a completely different experience. Its vast expanse of golden sand, backed by dunes and pine forests, offers more of a sense of wilderness. Walking here at low tide, with miles of untouched sand stretching before you, creates a feeling of freedom. No wonder it’s appeared in so many films! Holkham is also spectacular for birdwatching, especially in winter when thousands of geese fill the skies in the morning and evening.
They both offer a wonderful sense of space that clears your mind completely.
So which is your favourite? Do you prefer Wells’ seaside character or Holkham’s natural splendour?
Come and explore these magnificent
Norfolk beaches
- you won’t be disappointed!
Happy exploring!
