Castle Rising is one of those places you can easily drive past on your way to the North Norfolk coast without stopping to visit. If you do decide to visit, you’ll then realise quite how impressive it is.

The castle sits above the village behind huge earthworks, and you can explore the remains of the keep and get a much better idea of just how substantial this castle once was.

It's an fascinating place to spend an hour or two, and you can combine it with a wander around the very pretty flintstone village of Castle Rising while you're there and stop for lunch or a drink.
