For this holiday, you stay in one location in the bustling working port town of Wells-next-the-Sea for 3 nights.  

Usually your stay will be in a hotel, but you could have the option of a B&B if you would prefer.

  • This is a 2 day/3 night short break walking holiday staying in Wells-next-the-Sea and walking two of the best stretches of the Norfolk Coast Path, or one day on the coastal path and the other exploring Holkham Hall and grounds.

    Price from: £502 per person (based on 2 sharing)

    If you want the alternative walk and wish to visit Holkham Hall instead of walking day 2, you would need to book your holiday to take in a Sunday, Monday or a Thursday in order to be able to visit the interior of the Hall.

  • Your stay will be in high quality accommodation in the town of Wells-next-the-Sea which will be your central point. This is a lovely working port with pubs, independent shops and a pretty quayside.

    You can then spend the rest of the day exploring the stunning grounds and house of Holkham Hall.

    Day 1 walk
    Walk from Brancaster Staithe to Wells-next-the-Sea (11 miles/17.6km)
    Catch the bus from Wells to Brancaster Staithe (details are in the itinerary). From here you have glorious views over the marshes as you head off along the sea defences, out towards the sand dunes from Burnham Overy Staithe and arriving at Gun Hill with a wonderful sea vista. This stretch of the Norfolk Coast Path takes in the well-known and beautiful Holkham beach and continues on to the very popular working fishing port of Wells-next-the-Sea.


    Day 2 walk
    Walk from Wells-next-the-Sea to Blakeney (just under 8 miles/12.5km)
    Heading through more wonderful salt marshes with incredible views towards Blakeney Point, and a few sea defences and marshes later you reach the quay in the pretty village of Blakeney. Take some time to wander around the village and then catch the easy Coasthopper bus back to Wells-next-the-Sea

    Getting there:

    By Road:
    Wells-next-the-Sea is situated on the North Norfolk Coast approximately 50 minutes from King’s Lynn and 55 minutes from Norwich. There is no train station in Wells-next-the-Sea.

    Car parking:
    Car parking is available at the hotel.

    By Rail:
    To/from Wells-next-the-Sea: You can catch the train to King’s Lynn and then a bus or taxi to Wells, or a train from Norwich to Sheringham and then the bus from there to Wells.

    By Bus:
    The coasthopper bus service (http://www.coasthopper.co.uk) runs from King’s Lynn to Cromer, changing at Hunstanton and Wells-next-the-Sea.

    By Air:
    The airports closest to Wells-next-the-Sea are Norwich International Airport and London Stansted Airport.
