Eve, Dog Friendly Holiday Bungalow, Scratby

Eve, the dog friendly holiday bungalow is a rare chance in Norfolk to have a holiday with amazing sea views.  There aren’t many places in Norfolk that have sea views, particularly on the North Norfolk coast, because the swathes of salt marshes usually divide the sea from land and so sea views become a bit of a rarity.  But here in Scratby, you have your chance!

Eve is the perfect one storey holiday home for you and your dogs and comes under the umbrella of Norfolk Beach Bungalows.

Eve is the sister bungalow to Dawn in Hemsby which you can read about in more detail here.  Both of these bungalows have been completely renovated by Sharon, the owner.

Being a very dog friendly lady with a few dogs of her own, Sharon has made sure that everything about the house and garden is perfect for a holiday with dogs.   All flooring is either laminate or tiled (making it easy to keep clean), and most importantly, the garden is enclosed.

One of the best things about this holiday bungalow is its location on top of California Cliffs.   This takes a lot of beating!

You can literally breathe in the sea air as you sit in the garden enjoying a relaxing drink.  Or if the weather isn’t quite so nice, retreat to the conservatory or the large open plan living room and admire the view from both of these rooms!

With the short walk to the extremely dog friendly Scratby beach, this really is an excellent place for your Norfolk holiday.

Scratby and California are made up of numerous holiday bungalows and chalets, but the joy of Eve is that it’s on a private road and the views from the main living area and conservatory are out over the cliffs to the sea so you definitely get a feeling of open landscape.

The Living Area And Dining Area

The living and dining areas are two separate rooms which are divided by an arch as you can see in the photo below.

The light and airy living and dining rooms

The dining area has a table and chairs for eating, as well as a sofa and the solid fuel log burner, so you can make yourself comfy here whilst you eat, and then move on into the light and airy living area once you’ve finished eating.

The living area has a large leather sofa, TV, electric fire and the wonderful double doors that open out onto the garden.  Here you’ll come face to face with the fantastic view of the sea.  On a sunny and warm day you can open these doors to let your dogs wander freely about in the secure garden, or if you take this holiday home in the winter, you can feel warm and cosy in the living room whilst watching the waves crash below you!

Don’t forget that the winter months in Norfolk are a fabulous time to visit;  the wildlife is exceptional and the beaches are empty!   And with the heaters and an electric fire in the living area, Eve will keep you warm in these colder months.

You can contact the owner, Sharon, here.

Conservatory

Turn right out of the living area and walk into the wonderfully bright and light conservatory with stunning sea views.  This room is yet another added bonus and, as with the living area, also has double doors which overlook the wonderfully enclosed garden and beyond.

The Kitchen At Eve Dog Friendly Holiday Home

The very modern kitchen at Eve in Scratby

The kitchen is wonderfully modern, with all the appliances you could want from a holiday kitchen such as a microwave, hob, slow cooker, toastie maker and George Forman grill!

With the extra large fridge/freezer, you hopefully won’t have to be slaving over a hot stove during your time here at Eve, or indeed going on lots of food shopping trips, the bugbear of any holiday!

The Bedrooms

The double bedroom at Eve, with ensuite

Eve sleeps 4 people in two ensuite bedrooms which is a real plus for this holiday bungalow.

The main bedroom has a king size bed with an ensuite shower room, and the other room is a twin bedded room with an ensuite bathroom.  Both of these bedrooms have a few small steps down to the bathrooms and each have a smart TV.

This twin room is perfect for 2 children, but of course is also just as good for 2 grown up adults!  It does have the airing cupboard in it which is used for storing towels and a few other necessities which you can use.

The Garden

Eve has a fantastic enclosed and secure garden which overlooks the cliffs to the sea.  You never want to worry if the garden is secure when you’re on a holiday, so this one definitely fits the bill!

On the other side of the garden is a lovely open field which you can use, but you are asked to use it respectfully as it is privately owned.  You can use this field to reach the road to the beach, but you must beware that there is a sheer drop to the beach below due to erosion so you should probably keep dogs on leads and children completely under your control.  But the field gives a lovely open feel to the house.

And after a busy day, why not enjoy a relaxing drink and meal on the patio which has a table and chairs for outside dining, covered by a gazebo – perfect for a barmy evening.
