Good Afternoon,
If you fancy discovering something truly unique in Norfolk, Grimes Graves is a fascinating place to come and explore. This ancient site in the Breckland landscape is home to Britain’s only Neolithic flint mine open to visitors, and it does feels unlike anywhere else in the county.
It has the most unusual lunar-like landscape and a history stretching back over 4,000 years. It really is a place that will spark your curiosity - I know it certainly did with me! You can even go down into one of the shafts to experience what life might have been like for prehistoric miners – it’s fascinating.
It’s a great option if you’re looking for something a little different for a spring day out.

P.S. If you’re exploring the North Norfolk coast, Briarfields Hotel in Titchwell is one of my favourite places stop for a bite to eat and to stay. With fantastic views over Titchwell marshes, it’s perfectly placed for combining the coast, the countryside and great food. Discover more here at
