Hidden Towers in Sheringham Park

Good Afternoon,

I don’t know whether it's just me, but I wanted to share a new discovery with you which I only found out when walking in Sheringham Park over the Christmas holidays.

I’ve visited Sheringham Park lots of times over the years, but last week I made a ridiculous discovery that’s probably been there for a good few years - two viewing towers I never knew existed! Some of you are probably already going “duh”! I knew the Gazebo existed (out of use at the moment), but not these 2 other viewing platforms.

Both are off the main path with signs, hidden among the trees. The first tower offers spectacular glimpses of the tree tops and rhododendrons. The second tower, further on, provides spectacular views to the sea.

What really got me excited was the thought of these views in spring, when the park’s famous rhododendrons and azaleas burst into bloom! I can’t wait to take a walk then. From these elevated vantage points, you’ll be able to look down on a sea of purples, pinks, reds and whites – a definite date for the diary and I can't wait!

The towers are reached from the main path which goes through the park. They have signs saying "Viewing Tower".

Happy exploring!

Suzy

P.S. Do you know about the North Norfolk Railway, also known as the Poppy line? This is a heritage steam railway which you can take from Sheringham and alight at Weybourne to walk up to Sheringham Park, should you want.
