Good Afternoon,
This week I'd love to share some content about the village of Cley-next-the-Sea.
Many of you probably already know that despite its name, Cley isn’t actually "next the sea" anymore! The coastline has changed over the centuries, and what was once a busy medieval port is now separated from the sea by marshland and reedbeds. But the natural landscape surrounding this village is absolutely stunning.
Cley provides natural beauty with fascinating history. The iconic windmill standing tall against the Norfolk sky, the flint cottages, some with Dutch gable ends, lining the streets, and the magnificent 13th-century church of St Margaret’s all tell stories of a rich past. And not forgetting the Norfolk Wildlife Trust Cley Marshes nature reserve which is a top reserve for wildlife enthusiasts and bird watchers!
There are excellent walking opportunities with spectacular views, the marshes are
usually teeming with birdlife and there are numerous places to grab a pint, a cup of coffee or a good lunch/dinner.
